Description
Day 1:
– The trek starts in the village of Imlil, which is located about 65 kilometers (40 miles) south of Marrakech. Imlil serves as a gateway to the High Atlas Mountains and is a popular starting point for many treks in the region.
– Meet your local guide and start the hike towards the Red Valley. The exact trail and route may vary, but your guide will lead you through beautiful landscapes, including terraced fields, juniper forests, and traditional Berber villages.
– As you ascend, you’ll have the opportunity to admire stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The Red Valley is known for its striking red-rock formations, which can create a visually captivating experience.
– Reach the Tizi n’Ououraine pass, a high point on the trek that offers panoramic vistas of the Atlas Mountains. Take some time to rest and enjoy the scenery.
– Descend into the Red Valley, surrounded by the characteristic red cliffs that give the valley its name. Depending on the time of year, you may encounter lush vegetation and almond trees in bloom.
– Arrive at the village of Tizi Oussem, where you’ll spend the night in a traditional Berber guesthouse. Enjoy a hearty meal and experience Berber hospitality.
Day 2:
– After breakfast, continue your journey through the picturesque valley. The landscapes in the Red Valley are diverse, with red-rock formations contrasting against the greenery and traditional Berber architecture.
– Trek through the Azzaden Valley, passing by small villages and terraced fields. The Azzaden River runs through this valley, adding to the beauty of the surroundings.
– Along the way, you’ll have more opportunities to interact with the local Berber communities and learn about their way of life.
– Eventually, you’ll reach the village of Imlil, where your two-day Red Valley trek concludes.
